Went on to run at Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, NC. Brant was All ACC in Cross Country twice

Jan. 6 - 6 miles easy on bike, 2 mile Warmup, 5 miles in 28:21 (5:56, 5:50, 5:41, 5:33, 5:21) 1/2 WD
Jan. 7 - 10.5 hard with the boys (67:30)

Week 2
Jan. 8 - Weights then 3 easy on the treadmill.  Left lower leg and right knee extremely sore.
Jan. 9 - 5 miles easy
Jan 10 - 10 miles in 63:00 last night (first in 7:50, last 9 in 55:10) got down to 5:42 pace in the 8th mile but had to back off due to rampant onset of fatigue.) 1/2 WD = 10.5 total
Jan. 11 - Didn't run today because my d#@* ankle is hurting. Biked 10 miles then lifted weights.
Friday - 22 miles on the bike then weights
Saturday - Easy 5 miles
Sunday - easy 6 miles (both ankles are now hurting)

Week 3
Jan. 16 - I lifted weights and rode the bike for 30 minutes.  I have doubled the Ibuprofen dose and will try to
               start running again Tuesday.  I have a gait analysis with a friend of mine tom.
Jan. 18 - 1.5 miles after weights. Felt better
Jan 19 - 2 miles
Jan 20 - I had a gait analysis done yesterday - extremely interesting.  You walk across a pad numerous times and the machine measures your pressure on certain parts of your foot and how quickly you come through.
My arches have flattened which means my gait line does not loop outward between my heel and midfoot but stays in a straight line (damn it - Nike - no more arch cookies).  My stride also stops early and doesn't fully extend
off my big toe.    2.5 miles

Thursday - flu, home puking (first adult throw-up non-alcohol related)
Friday - flu, easy biking for 30 minutes

1/29 Monday - A.M. Weights, P.M. 5 miles
Tuesday    Did a 10 miler tonight in 1:05 - felt decent until the last 10 min.
Weds.    1.25 WU, 3 miles in 17:02, 1 mile easy, 1.5 miles in 8:15, .25 WD - total 7
2/1    weights, then 3 miles followed by strides.
2/2 Friday - 5 easy
2/3 Saturday - A.M. 3 easy followed by strides, 1/2 easy P.M. 1 WU, 4.5 mile tempo (5:55, 5:42, 5:28, 5:21, 2:35) last 3 miles
      in 16:09 - felt better 1/2 WD
2/4 Sunday - 10.5 easy legs hurting, 50 for the week, best in a year and a half.

Week 6
2/5    Easy biking followed by weights and stretching - no running.
2/6    9 miles easy tonight
2/7    2.5 WU, 3 miles in 15:53 (5:22,5:21,5:10) 1 mile easy, 4 * 1/2 mile in 2:35 with 1/4 jog - 9.5 total
2/8    Ran 6 miles
2/9    Lifted weights today, ran 6 miles
2/10    Saturday - 2.5 WU, 5 mile tempo in 27:55 (5:54,5:43,5:35, 5:28, 5:15) .5 WD
2/11    Sunday - 11 miles on the bike then stretching, Incredible heel pain - needed a day off.
 
 

Week 7
2/12    11 miles on the bike then stretching, leg still hurts.
2/13    4 on the bike, stretching, 1.5 running (6:21, 3:00) had to stop due to calf soreness, stretching, 4 on the bike.
2/14    3 miles easy today
2/15    5.5 steady tonight - legs are getting better.
Friday - 4 miles in 25:23, jogging
Saturday - 2.5 WU, 3 miles in 15:29 (5:13, 5:10, 5:06) 1.5 WD
Sunday - 12 miles in 1:15 (34:00, 29:00, 12:00)

Week 8
2/19    Monday - biking, lifting, stretching
2/20    Tuesday - 3 miles easy, legs hurt
2/21    Wednesday - 2.5 WU, 4 miles in 21:55 (5:37, 5:31, 5:30, 5:17) .5 WD felt like crap -
            would have been lucky to stay with Vince at Myrtle Beach tonight.
2/22    Weights followed by 5 easy
2/23    6 easy
2/24    2 WU, mile in 4:53, 1/4 jog, 4 * 1/2 with 1/4 jog - 2:24, 2:29, 2:26, 2:25, 1/2 WD extremely windy - total of 7
           miles. First real track workout since September 1999 - even put the spikes on.
2/25    same loop as last week. 12 in 1:13:45 (33:00, 29:10, 11:35) had more energy at the end.

3/6    9 easy (Tuesday) legs tired, left heel killing me.  Time for some prescription drugs
3/7    Wednesday - 2.5 WU, 2 miles in 10:00 (Coach Brooks told me to stop there) 2.5 WD - felt better in the
          last half than the first half.
