Went on to run at Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, NC. Brant was All ACC in Cross Country twice

Wednesday - Another calf pull.  Ran 2.5 easy with Kurt and then had to walk-in.  Appears
to be totally related to the hamstring strain I've been battling for a month.

Saturday - 4 easy at Wake, followed by 8*100.  Dirt slow, mechanics were terrible.
Felt like I was going to fall over.
Sunday - 7 moderate around Wake.  Once again breathing heavy, legs tired.  Did some strides afterwards,
quads tight.

Monday - 4 easy around the Gardens.  Felt better. Strides after.  Left calf slightly tight.
Tuesday - 6 steady around Tanglewood.  Picked it up in the end.  Felt better than the last few weeks.  Good run.
Wednesday - 6 moderate around the Gardens and BV.  Split a mile in 6:18.  Starting to feel better.
Thursday - 4 easy around Bethabara followed by strides

Saturday - 2 WU, 4*400 76,79,77,76 with a 200 jog at Wake track.  1.5 WD.

Sunday - Ran 10 at Salem Lake with Garrick, Kevin, Justin and Dave.  66 minutes, 6:01 8th mile.

Monday - 4 easy at night.  Legs felt pretty good.  Left foot hurting when I get up in the morning.
Tuesday - 4 moderate around the Gardens.  Did some strides afterwards.  Legs tired.
Wednesday - 6 steady around Wake, last 800 on the track in 2:44.  Strides afterwards.  Feeling better.

Friday - 4 easy on a treadmill.
Saturday - 2 WU, 1.5WD 4*400 - 72,74,75,73 with a 200 jog.   Breathing really heavy, legs okay.
Sunday - 10 moderate around Salem Lake.  Felt tired.  Last few miles at 6:15-6:20 pace.

Monday - 7 easy with the high school kids.  Hamstrings sore.
Tuesday - 4 steady around Wake, last 800 on the track in 2:53.  Ran some
strides afterwards, last one in 14.4.  Feeling slightly better.  Very hot.
Wednesday - 6.5 moderate with the high school kids.
Thursday - 5 with last 2 miles in 11:40.  Feeling better.
Friday - 2 easy at Lake Norman, right hamstring tight.
Saturday - 6 easy with Betsy and Kyle.
Sunday - 9.5 at 6:30-6:35 pace at Wake/Gardens.  Felt good.

Thursday - 5.5 with 2 miles in the middle in 11:25 (5:43/5:42).  Very hot but felt pretty relaxed.

Feeling better. Feeling some twinges in the outside of the left knee.

Tuesday - 5 miles solid around Tanglewood, followed by some strides.  Felt better.
Wednesday - 6.5 moderate with Greg Dame.  Still tired.
Thursday – 3 moderate, 3 in 17:40 (5:55/5:50/5:55) 1/2 easy.  Felt hot.  Legs tired.
Friday – 4 dirt slow, legs baked.
Saturday - 2 WU, 9 * Long Hill in the Wake Trails, jogged around to the
bottom after each one, 1/2 easy, 1200 on the track in 3:58, 1/4 WD (6.5 total)
Sunday - 12 at Salem Lake.  First 5 easy with your boy Perry, last 7 by
myself (lake loop in 45:27).  Felt better.  Longest run in forever.

Week 28
Monday, July 4th - Ran 5 miles moderate.  Hamstrings sore.
Tuesday - 6 steady in the Gardens followed by strides.
Wednesday - 6 moderate with Greg Dame.
Thursday - 1 mile - got caught in the tornado that came through W-S.  Turned
around at high speed in the Gardens.
Friday - 5 steady from home. Felt good.
Saturday - 2WU, 9 * Long Hill in the Wake Trails with a Jog Around, ½ easy,
1 mile in the trails in 5:22, ½ WD.  (7 total)
Sunday - 6 moderate around Wake.  Tired.

Week 29
Monday morning (7/11) - 6 easy with the high schoolers.
Tuesday - 3 easy, 2 in 11:52, 1 easy.  Very hot, felt awful, chest cold getting worse.
Wednesday - 6 easy in the morning, felt better.
Thursday - 5 moderate, threw in a couple of 30 second surges and a 3:57 1200
on the track.  Felt slightly better. Still coughing.
Friday - 5 moderate with the high schoolers.  Felt better.
Saturday - 1.5 WU, 1 WD 5:24/11:10/ - ran 17:33 for 20th place.  Very humid.  Legs fine, it was all cardio.
No real aches and pains to speak of.

Monday - 7 easy/moderate around Tanglewood.  Legs tired.  Very hot and humid.
Tuesday - 7 moderate around Bethabara.  Heat index of 105.  Legs still tired.
Wednesday - 7 moderate around the Gardens.  Legs felt better, although calves were randomly sore at the end of the run.
Thursday - 2 WU, 1 WD, 4 mile tempo at Bethabara (on top loop) in 24:31.
Just tried to stay relaxed.  Still very hot.
Friday    Friday - 5 easy at Tanglewood.  Felt good.
Saturday - 2 WU, 1 WD 3*Deacon Blvd., jog around, 800 hard, 3 * Deacon Blvd., jog around, 800 hard, 3 * Deacon Blvd.   (7 total)
Sunday - Felt slightly cooler this morning.  14 miles at Salem Lake.  Felt good.  Longest run in forever.

Week 31
Monday - 5.5 easy in the morning.
Tuesday - 5.5 moderate at Tanglewood.  100 degrees (actual temp.) when I was running.  Was totally brutal.
Legs felt pretty good, no other runners or bikers to be found.
Wednesday - 7.5 moderate with the high schoolers.  Felt good.  78 degrees at 6:00AM.  Crazy.
Thursday - 2 WU, 1/2 WD. 4 mile tempo run on top loop at Bethabara (23:37)
92 degrees.  About the same effort as last week.  Finally making a little progress.
Friday - 6.5 easy in the morning.  Pain in left quad.
Saturday - 2 WU, 1/2 WD 8 * 400 in 70-71 with a 200 jog, 800 easy, 1600 in 5:22.  Legs felt heavy and tired, started 400's at
6:45AM so it took awhile to get warmed up.  (7 miles total)
Sunday - 14 at Salem Lake at 7:00 pace.  Exhausted at the end.

Week 32
Monday - Ran 7.5 moderate with the high schoolers this morning.  Legs felt better, and cooler weather helped.
Tuesday - 8 miles moderate around the Gardens.  Felt good except for the heat.
Wednesday - 6 miles easy in the morning.
Thursday - 2 WU, 1/2 WD 4 mile tempo on top loop at Bethabara - 23:19.  93 degrees.  About the same effort as last week, but felt better.
Friday - 6 easy this morning.  Pain in left quad.
Saturday - 5.5 easy hill fartlek very early in the morning.
Sunday - 14 easy at Moses Cone Park.  Ran the last 1.5 miles of the mountain
relatively hard.  Legs (especially left quad) tired after 1:30 on the downhill.

Week 33
Monday - ran 6 moderate this morning.
Tuesday - Very fatigued.  Had to lay down at work.  Tried to workout, no dice.
6.5 mile run with 2 miles in the middle in 11:48, breathing very hard
Wednesday - Ran 4 easy around Wake Trails, then ran 6*100 strides on the track.  Ran
13.9 on the last one.  Left quad still hurting.
Thursday - 4.5 moderate around the Gardens with 12 15 second surges.
Friday - 6.5 easy with the high schoolers.
Saturday - 2 WU, 1 WD.  3 mile tempo in the Wake Trails - 16:40.  Felt better.  Ran loops in 8:07/8:03 and added 30
seconds at the end. No quad pain.  Felt like I was slowing down on the second loop but was actually going faster.  Good sign.
Sunday - Ran 2 easy at Lake Norman just to get legs going.

Monday - 5 moderate around the Wake Trails followed by some strides.  Felt good.
Tuesday - 1 easy, 2 in 11:38, 2 easy.  Felt terrible, no energy, very hot.
Wednesday - 5 easy, not feeling good.
Thursday - 4.5 moderate at Bethabara, with 8 15 second pick-ups and an 800 in 2:40 thrown in.
Friday - 5.5 easy with the high schoolers.  Ran 5 1:00 minute pickups.  Felt pretty good.  Last morning with the kids this summer.
Saturday - 2 WU, 1 WD  3200 at Wake Track 10:32 - 5:16/5:16.  96 degree heat index and was alone, so good effort.  Didn't look at my watch in the 2nd mile, so 79's must be a good rhythm.  Random right knee pain during the warmdown.
Sunday - Ran 7.5 easy this morning with Bill Gibbs and Perry Macheras.  Knees sore but no major pain.
