Wednesday - 10 steady around the Gardens. Cruising.
Thursday - 7 moderate with 12 15 second surges thrown in.
Friday - A.M. 6 easy with Bill Gibbs.
Saturday - 5.5 on the treadmill - 2WU (Put the treadmill on
6:00 pace,
increasing incline by 0.5% every 1:00, going to level for 1:00,
going to
1.0% grade, etc. for first 15 minutes (got up to 3.5% grade) then
cranked
last 1/2 mile, getting to 5:00 pace in the last minute. 1/2
WD.
Sunday - 15 (first 8 easy with the old guys, next 6 with Garrick
between
6:05-6:15, last mile in 6:30). Felt a little tired, but good
run.
Week 2
Monday - ran 3 miles easy on the treadmill. Travel.
Tuesday - 7 steady around the Gardens, threw in 5 15 second sprints
to get my legs moving, felt slow.
Weds. - 7 on the treadmill at home - moderate/steady. Didn't
feel good. Ran a few
pickups in the last mile.
Thursday - 10 easy around the Gardens. Tired.
Friday - treadmill 2WU, 1/2 WD, ran 3 miles cutdown in 17:00ish,
felt shitty.
Saturday - shot some hoops, then 5.5 miles moderate.
Sunday - 10 steady from home in 65 minutes. Felt better at
the end.
Week 3
Monday - Ran 1/4 mile then had to go to work and answer the burglar
alarm. Not happy.
Tuesday - 7 moderate on the treadmill with 4 pick-ups in the last
mile. Felt decent.
Weds. - 3 WU, ½ WD – 4 mile tempo on 3-6 (Mistletoe) in 22:02
(5:37,5:34,5:34,5:17). Good effort.
Thursday - 15 solid. Legs tired.
Friday - 4 miles
Saturday - 7 easy around the Gardens, legs tired.
Sunday - 10 steady around Wake, felt better.
Week 4
Mon. - 4 moderate on treadmill with 4 pickups thrown in. Felt
decent.
Tues. - 3WU, 1/2 WD , 2 miles on Mistletoe Course (3-4) in 10:39
(5:20/5:19), 4
minutes rest, 1 mile in 5:06 (number 5). Felt pretty good.
Weds. - 10 moderate around the Gardens. Legs sore, but felt
decent.
Thursday - Easy 7 miles around Tanglewood with John Anderson.
Friday - Friday - 3 easy. Felt tight.
Saturday - Winter Flight 8K in Salisbury - 2 WU, 2.5 WD
(5:12,10:35,16:04,21:10, 26:27) - 1st place. First win in
10 years, I think. Tough course. Barely won. $100.
Sunday - 13 easy. Legs, especially hamstrings, sore and tired.
Week 5
Monday - 3 easy on the treadmill, legs still sore.
Tuesday - 7 steady around the Gardens. Split a mile in 6:22,
felt better. Threw a few strides in the last mile.
Wednesday - 2 WU, 1WD. 4.5 cut-down tempo on the treadmill,
felt allright. (Total 7.5)
Thursday - 10 solid around Bethabara. A little tired.
Friday - 6 steady with some pick-ups thrown in.
Saturday - 12 miles (Pub Run) Drank a six-pack total at different
stops
(Village Tavern, Lucky 32's, Fox and the Hound, Guy's House, 1st
Street, Mellow Mushroom) Good time.
Sunday - 4.5 total (2WU, 6*Deacon Blvd, 1/2 WD). Leg
speed sucks.

Monday – off
Tuesday – 2WU, 1WD 6 mile tempo at Salem Lake/Greenway 33:23
(5:33,5:40,5:34,5:31,5:34,5;31). Felt better than last time.
Weds. - 8 easy around the Gardens. Calves a little sore.
Thursday – 15 miles moderate/steady on the treadmill. I think
I’ve lost my mind. Felt allright.
Friday – 5.5 easy with Bill Gibbs, legs very tired.
Saturday - 5.5 total (2 easy, 3 with surges every minute, 1/2 easy)
Sunday - 10 steady from home.
Week 7
Monday – 3 easy on the treadmill. Tired.
Tuesday – 3 WU, 1 WD 2 miles in 10:37 (5:20/5:17) on Mistletoe 3-4,
4 minutes rest, 1 Mile in 4:59 on Mistletoe 5.
First sub-5 in awhile. Did not feel good.
Wednesday – 10 easy around the Gardens.
Thursday – off, heading to Pinehurst for a meeting. Legs feel
very heavy and stiff.
Friday – 3 easy at Myrtle Beach – felt allright.
Saturday – 2.5 WU, 5 mile first leg 26:20 (5:12/5:06/5:25/5:27/5:10)
Team got 2nd. Didn’t feel great.
Early in the morning – perfect for a marathon.

Monday – 3 easy at night.
Tuesday – 4 moderate early in the morning. Long day ahead.
Weds. - 8 easy with Phil Ponder with some hill fartlek thrown in.
Thursday – 10 solid in 62 minutes. Ran a few 5:45 miles and
felt awful. Asleep by 7:00.
Friday – 6.5 moderate with Bill Gibbs. Felt slightly better,
not great.
Saturday - 7 total (2WU, 6*Deacon Blvd. in Wake Trails (avg. 42)
1/4 easy to
the track, 1600 in 4:55, 1.75 WD)
Sunday - 15 total at Salem Lake. Felt good. Loops in
46:38/44:49 and then added on.

Tuesday – 2 WU, 2 in 10:53, 2 easy, 2 in 10:49, ½ WD.
At Salem Lake/Greenway. Did not feel good. Legs tired.

Friday – 8 moderate around Tanglewood. Ran some strides afterwards,
felt better.

Cold and windy, hard effort at a pediastrian pace.

in right hamstring.

extremely tight up high.

mile.
Felt allright, not great.

Sunday – Loop at Salem Lake in 45:41. Felt fine while running,
a little quad pain, but then was painful later.

Thursday - huge thunderstorms forced me to stop after 4.5 moderate

Saturday - Cut-down tempo in the Wake trails with the Worker -
9:57/8:58/8:24/8:07 1.5 easy - 7.5 total. Hard effort.
Sunday - 12.5 moderate with the Worker at the Lake. Good run.

Wednesday - 7.5 moderate, calf got tight at the end of the run.
Thursday - 3 steady, calf incredibly tight, painful.
Friday - massage then 1 hour hard on the bike.

little tight.

Tuesday – massage, bike ride and 1.5 very slow. Calf hurting.

not great, last loop around 9:00 – everything else felt great.

tired. Very hot and humid.

2 easy). Hot. Didn’t feel great but legs stayed together.
Wednesday - 4.5 very easy in the Wake Trails, legs tired.
Thursday - 5 moderate in Boston, legs tired.
Friday - 6 moderate in Maine on the trails behind L.L. Bean - felt
good.
Saturday - 10 steady in Maine - 6:15-6:20, felt good. Best
run in awhile.
Sunday - 6 easy in Maine. Legs very tired.

Monday – 6 easy/moderate around the Wake Trails. Felt good.
Tuesday - At Salem Lake, 2 WU, 2 in 10:59 (5:27, 5:32), 3 easy.
Hot and humid – felt quicker than last week.
Weds. - 7 easy around the Gardens – legs tired.
Thursday – 7 easy around Bethabara, with 4 15 second surges thrown
in and a 2:35 800. Legs felt pretty good.
Friday – 7 easy/moderate with the kids. Last morning of the
summer.
Saturday - 6 in the Wake Trails - 10:02/8:50/8:08 1.5 easy, - didn't
feel good at all.
Sunday -10 easy/moderate in the Wake Trails - felt good until about
50 minutes. Humid.
