BrantBorn 6/17/72 and raised in Winston-Salem, NC. Went to Mount Tabor High School where he graduated in 1990.
Went on to run at Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, NC. Brunt was All ACC in Cross Country twice

Wednesday – 5 slow with the kids.  Legs tired, feet really hurting.
Thursday – 2 easy.  Had to stop early because of severe thunderstorm.
Friday – 5 steady with the kids.  Felt better.
Saturday - 5.5 steady with 3 miles at 6:25 pace.  Didn't feel great.
Sunday - 2 slow. Low-grade stomach flu.

Wednesday – 6.75 steady with the kids.  Very hilly run.
Thursday – 5.5 steady around Tanglewood.  Hot, tired.
Friday – 7 steady with the kids, very hilly run.  Felt decent.
Saturday - 10 at 7:10 at Salem Lake.  Felt allright.  Longest run of the year.
Sunday - 3 dirt slow at Wake.  Tired.

Week 28
Monday - 6 steady with the kids.  Threw in a 6:02 - like to say it felt easy.
Tuesday – 6 steady around the Gardens with 4 15 second pick-ups thrown in.  Felt awkward.
Wednesday – 7 steady with the kids.  Legs tired, left quad/hamstring tight/sore.
Thursday – 6 steady around Bethabara with 4 15 second pickups in the last mile.  Legs sore, quad, hamstring and back issues.
Friday – 7.25 steady with the kids.  Legs tired, left leg issues slightly better.
Saturday - 2 WU, 6 times Deacon Hill Loop in the Trails, 1/2 WD.  4.5 total.  Trying to get legs going.
Sunday - 11 in the Wake Trails.  Steady, felt pretty good.

Week 29
Monday - 4.5 slow in the Gardens.  Legs baked
Tuesday -6.5 total - 1.5 easy, 4 miles plus tempo 6:30, 6:09, 6:05, 6:08 plus 2:00 at 6:10 pace, 1 easy.
Felt allright, legs tired and left hamstring issues, but felt okay.
Wednesday - off, travel.  Legs hurting.
Thursday 7 at 6:50 pace around Rockford Michigan.  Felt decent.
Friday - 5.75 easy around Rockford.
Saturday - 7 steady with last 3 miles at 6:30 pace around Rockford, felt decent.
Sunday - 4 easy.  Feet feeling slightly better.

Week 30
Mon. - 6 steady around the Wake Trails with 4 15 second pick-ups in the last mile.  Felt decent except for left hamstring issues.
Tuesday – 7 steady at Salem Lake in 45:42.  Ran with Todd Morgan – random – who was doing some recruiting in the area.
First 2 miles in 14:22, last 5 at 6:20 pace.  Felt comfortable until last mile or so, was talking most of the time.
Wednesday – 6.25 easy with the kids.  Legs butt/hamstring really hurting, feet not feeling well.
Thursday – 5.5 easy/steady around the Gardens. Legs tired.
Friday – 6 easy/steady with the kids.  Left hamstring issues, feet tired.
Saturday - workout at Wake with the Worker.
2 WU, 6 * Deacon Blvd. in the Trails, 1/2 easy, 1 mile in 5:28 on 10K
loop, rest, 1 mile back in 5:36 on 10K Loop, then 1.5 WD.  8 miles total.
Sunday - 12 at Salem Lake with Mike and Alan Marion.  First 10 miles at
6:50 pace, last 2 miles in 6:19, 6:14.  Tired at the end.

Week 31
Monday - ran 6.25 steady with the kids.  Legs tired.
Tuesday - 4.5 easy around the Gardens.  Tired.
Wednesday - 6.5 steady with the kids.  Feet and quads sore.
Thursday - Cut-down at Salem Lake.  Very hot and left foot hurting. 7:06, 6:20, 5:56, 5:48, 5:55, 1.5 easy – 6.5 total
Friday - Off
Saturday - 2 WU, 9 * Deacon Blvd. in 47-48, 20:00 total for the loop,
1/2 easy, 1600 on the track in 5:23, 1 mile easy.  7.5 miles total. Foot hurting.
Sunday - 6.25 steady around Wake.  Foot hurting, body tired, packed it in early.

Week 32
Monday - 6.75 steady with the kids.  Foot much better (started Ibuprofen, and really stretched Sunday night), but legs very fatigued.
Tuesday – 6 steady around the Gardens.  Felt allright except for the heat.
Wednesday – 5 slow with the kids.
Thursday – 6 easy around the Gardens, very hot.  Felt decent.
Friday – 6.25 steady with the kids.  Felt pretty good.
Saturday - Workout in the Wake trails with Mike -  2 WU, 6 * Deacon
Blvd, avg. 46, Loop in 12:42, 1/2 easy, loop in the trails in 8:02, 2 WD.  8 total.  Getting faster.
Sunday - 10 steady with Mike at Salem Lake - 66:58.  First 2 in 14:50, last 8 at 6:30 pace - last mile in 6:04.  Getting stronger.
A little sore from the workout.

Week 33
Monday - 6 easy with the kids.  Hamstrings sore.
Tuesday – 6 around the Gardens.  Threw in a 5:36 mile and some strides.  Felt allright, not great.
Wednesday – off, travel.
Thursday – 4 easy on a bad hotel treadmill in San Antonio.  Was pouring rain outside.
Friday – A.M. 2 easy with the kids.  Last day of the summer.
Friday - P.M. 5 steady around the Gardens with some strides.
Saturday - 6 mile cut-down around Buena Vista.  7:41, 6:35, 6:09, 5:51, 5:38, 1 mile easy.  Felt decent.  Hot.
Sunday - 7 steady around Myrtle Beach.  Very hot and humid.  Didn't feel well after 5 miles.

Week 34
Monday - 4.5 easy around Myrtle Beach with some strides at the end. Felt decent.
Tuesday - 2 easy, 1 mile in 5:26, 1 mile easy, 1 mile in 5:17, ½ easy – 5.5 total.  Good to get the rust off.
Wednesday - 3 easy with strides.
Thursday - 2 easy
Friday - 1 mile easy, 4.55 leg at 5:30 pace.
Saturday - 5.75 miles up the mountain; 4.09 mile leg on the flats. Dead-tired.
Sunday - off, traveling, hurting, playing golf.

Week 35
Saturday - 2 easy
Sunday - 3 easy    Left foot, ankle killing me.

Week 36
24, with a 10 mile long run.  Fell at Salem Lake while running, got my knee pretty good, really sore.

Week 37
28, long run of 12.5, felt good until one mile to go when right Achilles and knee rebelled.

Week 38
Monday – no running, biked to rest Achilles.
Tuesday – 5 easy around the Gardens with 4 15 second pick-ups, calf tight and Achilles sore.
Wednesday – 6.5 easy/moderate around Tanglewood. Leg better.
Thursday – 6 easy/moderate around the Gardens with 4 15 second pick-ups, leg better.
Friday - 4.5 easy at Tanglewood, tired.
Saturday - 1/2 easy, 12 at 6:40 pace during Salem Lake 30K pacing a friend.  Knee hurting after 8 miles, felt pretty
easy until about 10 miles.
Sunday - 3 easy, knee still hurting.

Week 39
Monday - 5 steady around the Gardens, knee felt slightly better.
Tuesday - 5.5 easy around Tanglewood.  Legs tired.
Weds. - 5 easy/moderate.  Did some pick-ups while following Ben on his bike.
Thursday - 5 moderate around the Gardens.  Not feeling well.
Friday – 15.5 at 7:30 pace with Glenn Wells.  Longest run in forever.  Tired in the last couple of miles.
Saturday – off
Sunday – 4 moderate in the Wake Trails with Zack Hines.

Week 40
Monday - 8 moderate from the YMCA, with 4*100 strides on the Hanes Park track to finish up.  Felt allright.
Tuesday – 4 easy around the Gardens with 4 15 second pickups, felt quick.
Wednesday – 6 around Buena Vista, last three miles in the low 6:00 range.  Tired.
Thursday - off
Friday - 3 easy, tired.
Saturday - 3 easy after lifting.
Sunday - 19.5 miles averaging 7:15 miles around Tanglewood/Clemmons.  No problems until about 18.5, right Achilles and
eft hip flexor started rebelling.  Longest run since 1998.

Week 41
9 miles.  Low-grade flu and pleurisy led to a bad week.

Week 42
4 easy on the treadmill.  Chest better, but not great yet.  Still feel tired.
Tuesday - 5.5 steady at the end with Mark Uren and Bill Gibbs, chestgetting better.
Wednesday - 5.5 with two miles under 12:00, didn't feel great.
Thursday - 4 easy with some pick-ups at the end of the run.
Friday - off
Saturday - 21 easy at Salem Lake (probably averaged 7:45).  Legs were
fine until the steep downhill to the dam on the last loop, jogged in. Good run.

Friday - 4 easy with 4 15 second pickups, tired.

Sunday - 14 from Reynolda Village, around Wake, Bethabara, Town&Country.
First 10 easy, next 3 6:07,6:06,5:59, 1 easy.  Left hip flexor a little bothersome, but fast miles felt easy.

Tuesday – 4 easy around the Gardens with pickups in the last mile.  Felt quick.
Wednesday – 6 easy around the Gardens with pickups in the last mile.
Thursday – 2 easy 4 mile tempo around BV (6:15, 5:56, 5:58, 5:45) 1 mile easy in 6:52, last mile in 5:53 (6 15 second pickups).
Friday - 4 easy around the Gardens.  Legs tired.
Saturday - 6 easy/moderate in the Wake Trails with 4 15 second pick-ups in the last mile, didn't feel great.
Sunday - 10 averaging 7:15 pace at Salem Lake/Greenway, ran a couple of miles under marathon pace.  Felt decent.

Week 46
Monday – off
Tuesday – 4 easy with 4 15 second pickups, legs felt good.
Wednesday – 7.25 around the Gardens, Buena Vista with Alan Marion – 2 easy 3 up-tempo (5:55,5:44,5:46), 2.25 easy.
Legs felt good, slight nasal congestion.
Thursday - off
Friday - 3.5 easy with John and Mark around Philly.
Saturday - 3 easy around Philly.
Sunday - 26.2 miles, Philly Marathon in 2:56!!

Week 47
Saturday – 3 easy, heavy breathing.
Sunday – 3 easy, felt better except for right knee pain.

Sunday - 6 at Hanes Park (Walker Workout).  3 WU, 2 WD, 5 * 400 in 80,
with various exercises between reps (sore as hell).

Week 51
25 miles with a Walker Workout on Sunday, ran 400’s in 76ish.  Much better.

Week 52
24.5 with one Walker Workout - 400's in 72.

12/31 - 10.5 easy after lifting. Tired.
