Tuesday – 6.5 loop around Tanglewood in 42:15. Did 15 second
pickups in the last mile, legs sluggish. Hot.

Thursday - 3 easy in the Gardens. Postponed swim meet, thunderstorms,
etc.
Friday - 4 easy on the treadmill.
Saturday - 2 WU, 3 miles on Deacon Blvd. (hills in 45-46, total
loop in 18:23 (6:07/6:08/6:08)) 1 WD. Very hard effort.
Sunday - 9 easy, moderate except for 1 hill sprint up Deacon Blvd.

Monday - 6 easy with the high schoolers.
Tuesday – 6 mile cut-down around the Gardens, Buena Vista – 7:29,
6:24, 6:07, 6:07, 5:58, 6:54. Felt better.
Wednesday – 6 moderate with the high schoolers. Right knee,
left hamstring a little off.
Thursday - 5 easy around Tanglewood with 6 15 second pick-ups.
Tired, right knee and left hamstring hurting.
Friday - 5.25 moderate with the kids. Tired. Ran
3 pickups in the last mile.
Saturday - 10.5 easy/moderate. Very hilly run. Legs
tired.
Sunday - 5 mile cut-down on the basement treadmill. Ran 5:39
for 4th mile, with 600 meters at 5:30 pace. Felt allright, not great.

Monday - 5 moderate with the kids. Right knee and random right
ankle pain.
Tuesday – 6 around Buena Vista. Tried to do a cut-down and
ran a 6:28 and was dead. Very tired.
Wednesday – 4.5 easy with the kids. Ran 4 15 second pick-ups.
Right knee hurting, still tired.
Thursday – on the treadmill – 5 total, 2 easy, 6:00, 5:38 (with
¾ at 5:30 pace), 5:57. Felt much better.
Friday – 5.75 moderate with the kids, felt allright.
Saturday – 12 easy. No energy after 1:00.
Sunday – 2 WU, 4 * 200 hill with 200 jog. Had nothing.
Just stopped.

Monday – 7 moderate/steady in and around the NC Arboreteum in Asheville.
Felt good.
Tuesday – 6.5 moderate around Tanglewood with Jim Waters, ran 5
15 second pick-ups in the last mile.
Wednesday – 5.75 easy with the high school kids, ran 5 15 second
pick-ups in the last mile, felt good.
Thursday – 5.5 on treadmill at home – 8:04, 6:58, 6:22, 5:51, 5:27,
2:58. Felt better, calves really sore.
Friday – 5.25 easy with the kids. Legs tired.
Saturday - 2 WU, 6 * Deacon Blvd. in 44 (6:43/6:18), 1 WD.
5 miles total. Felt very tired, cut workout short.
Was breathing hard on the warm-up.
Sunday - Sunday – 5 steady in the Wake Trails, felt horrible, breathing
heavy. Loops in 10:22/9:46/9:20 plus ½ mile at
6:00 pace, just stopped.

Monday - 6 easy around the Gardens, with 3 15 second pick-ups in
the last mile. Very hot, still not feeling great.
Tuesday - 5.5 miles around Tanglewood, extremely hot. 6:49/6:36/6:30/6:04/7:05/3:40.
Felt slightly better, not great.
Wednesday - Wednesday – 3.5 easy around the Gardens. Felt
better.
Thursday - 6 mile cut-down on the treadmill at home. 8:05/7:04/6:34/6:00/5:35/5:25.
Starting to feel better.
Friday – 6 easy/moderate around Tanglewood with 5 second 15 second
pick-ups. Legs, especially calves, sore.
Saturday – 12 moderate with Tim Doran around town. Probably
averaged 7:00 pace, with the last 6 under 7:00. Felt easy.
Sunday – 7 miles total. Warm-up to the Wake track, 8 * 100
in 14-16 with a 100 jog, jog to the trails, 4 * Deacon Blvd,
with easy jog around (41, 41, 42, 39) warm-down. Good to get
a little quicker work in.
Week 31
Monday - 5.75 easy. Legs a little tired, hamstrings sore.
Tuesday – Cut-down at Salem Lake – 7:06/6:24/6:12/6:04/6:05 1.5
miles easy (6.5 total) Hamstrings sore, still not right.
Wednesday – 4.5 slow with the kids. Very tired.
Thursday - 3 easy in the Gardens. Head cold, tired.
Felt fast on some strides afterwards.
Friday – 3 easy with the kids. Last morning of the summer.

Saturday - 12 miles total with warm-ups, warm-downs. Ran (3
* 2 mile hard) and 1.5 miles hard. Started off at about 5:40 pace and would
ramp it up towards

felt better except for outside right knee pain.
Saturday – 5 in the Wake Trails Loops of 9:44/9:06/8:31 ½
easy followed by strides. Felt better, cold still in chest but legs
better except for outside right knee.
Sunday - 11 at Salem Lake, probably averaged 7:00 pace, with the
last couple of miles at 6:15. Felt good except for outside right
knee pain,
which forced me to turn around early.
